Ask Me Anything Displays Graduating Students’ Work at Rutgers University–Camden

The Department of Visual, Media, and Performing Arts (VMPA) at Rutgers University–Camden and the Stedman Gallery at the Rutgers—Camden Center for the Arts (RCCA) present the annual Thesis Exhibition: Ask me Anything. On view from April 28 – May 16, this exhibition features a range of works in painting, drawing, photography, graphic design, animation, and sculpture. Professor and head of the Rutgers—Camden photography program, Alejandro Loureiro Lorenzo, curated the work of 28 accomplished student artists that showcase the results of visual experiments and investigations during their time at Rutgers. This exhibition celebrates the first cohort of graduating students enrolled in the newly established BFA program in Visual Arts.

The list of participating artists includes Micheal Adair (Stratford, NJ), Rhiannon Atlee (Runnemede, NJ), Bryan Aviles (Pennsauken, NJ), Zach Bautista (Howell, NJ) , Roge Buc (Cherry Hill, NJ), Kaitlyn Buser (Southampton, NJ), Allison Cangelosi (Turnersville, NJ), Donald Cook (Delran, NJ), Marcos G Cotto (Pennsauken, NJ), Patrick Erwin (Bridge Water, NJ), Naely Fajardo (Camden, NJ), Niya Harling (Washington, D.C.), Nariko Johnson (Pine Hill, NJ), Larodge Johnson-Miller (Antioch, CA), Sera Kim (Cherry Hill, NJ), Angel Ly (Cherry Hill, NJ), Mark Mclaughlin (Branchburg, NJ), Sam Niedbalski (Sewell, NJ), Lewis Officer (Cherry Hill, NJ), Chaniyah Rhone (Stratford, NJ), Kayla Rivera (New Brunswick, NJ), Demetrio Samson (Pennsauken, NJ), Isa Santiago (Cumberland County, NC), Kennedy Short (Haddon Heights, NJ), Tyler Smith (Mount Holly, NJ), Olivia Thompson (Delanco, NJ), Becca Tummini (Garnet Valley, PA), and Melissa Vilain (Willingboro, NJ).

VMPA and RCCA established the Thesis Exhibition in 1985 and have been awarding a Stedman Purchase Prize to one student artist each year. The student artist’s work becomes a part of the Rutgers—Camden collection of art, which holds over 750 works from the 17th Century to the present. This Thesis Exhibition marks a special moment in the history of RCCA and the campus for its 50 th anniversary of the Stedman Gallery and the Rutgers—Camden Year of the Arts celebration initiated by the Office of the Chancellor.
