Please join us for the opening reception of Joel Adas – From City to Sea, at Parallax Modern, located in Chesterfield, NJ.
The conjunction of nature and man-made structures figures prominently in his work, the result of living for many years in New York City, and now in Cape May, NJ.
Working in a free-flowing and improvisational style Adas uses loose brushwork to create abraded surfaces that enhance the feeling of decay to evoke the passage of time and the juxtaposition of nature and the man-made world. Adas’s work provides a thought-provoking meditation on time, place, and transformation.

Adas has shown extensively in New York, including exhibitions at the Beacon Institute and the American Academy of Arts and Letters.
