Rhythms of Liberation – Celebrating Juneteenth Through Music
Save the Date: June 19, 2024

Join us for our annual Juneteenth Block Party in partnership with Wawa Welcome America on Wednesday, June 19th. Let’s come together to celebrate freedom through music as we honor the theme “Rhythms of Liberation” during Black Music Month. Follow us on socials at @aampmuseum. We can’t wait to celebrate with you!

Culture, history, liberation, and celebration take center stage at the 2024 Juneteenth Block Party with the African American Museum in Philadelphia!

Join AAMP as we continue the legacy of Juneteenth and celebrate our 48th anniversary as one the first institutions funded and built by a major municipality to preserve, interpret, and exhibit the heritage of African Americans. In partnership with Wawa and Welcome America, AAMP will host an all-day, family-friendly outdoor festival with several hosts from W.U.R.D. Radio, with entertainment, activations, games, and education for everyone to enjoy!

This year, AAMP will welcome hip-hop living legends Kid ‘n Play. Courtesy of Wawa, guests will have free admission to the museum to explore the new exhibition, “Imprint: Dox Thrash: Black Life, and American Culture.

Celebrants can expect a community Vendor Village featuring Black-owned businesses, community resources, giveaways, art making, food trucks, and line dancing, with more acts and special guests to be announced!

Registration is not required to access the Block Party which will be held between 7th and 8th Streets on Arch and within the 8th & Arch Parkway Parking lot.

Admittance into the museum requires online registration. Entry is on a first come, first basis and in accordance with gallery capacity.
